Yes, it is the middle of summer and we’re already talking about the upcoming Fall 2013 Career and Internship Fair (September 12th – 7 weeks away!), even though many of you are currently on vacation, in the middle of an internship, or working hard at a summer job.
So is it too early to start thinking about the Fair? Not at all. This year’s event is taking place very early this year – September 12! You will have just barely settled in to GW life before the Fair is upon you.
With this in mind, here are a few things you could be doing over the summer in order to prepare for the Fair:
- Polish that resume – having a great resume to hand to recruiters at the Fair will move your name from the “No” pile to the “Yes” pile.
- Do your research. Knowing about the companies and positions will impress recruiters.
- Dress to impress: our Pinterest Fairs page can help you with what to wear to the Fair – and the page provides other tips and resources as well.
As ever, the GW Center for Career Services can help! We have a 48-hour resume critique service, and our career consultants are available throughout the summer. Check out the consulting section of our website for more details.
PS We also have two workshops coming up on September 10 – Networking at the Career & Internship Fair and Is Your Resume Ready for the Career & Internship Fair? – to help you prepare. Interested? Then please RSVP through GWork.
